Ashton Kutcher Shocks Ellen with a $4 Million Ripple Donation

Ashton Kutcher surprises Ellen DeGeneres on her show and shocked her with one of the biggest donations to The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund to date.

Ashton Kutcher has a tech investment fund company with Guy Oseary. The company is called Sound Ventures, and they use it to invest in high tech companies. They came across a “very interesting tech company” called Ripple that they planned to invest in. Kutcher goes on to explain that Ripple is basically a platform that allows people to transfer money from bank account to bank account, person to person, really quickly and securely. Ripple runs on XRP, which is a cryptocurrency?, but basically it's a way to get value from here to there.

Kutcher and his business partner met with Chris Larson and Brad Garlinghouse from Ripple to garner more knowledge. Larson and Garlinghouse spoke about the ethic of the Ripple company and Platform and how they really care about about being an ethical company and giving back a portion of the platform away to people that are doing good in the world.

That’s when Kutcher and Oseary, who are both good friends of Ellen, came up with a proposal to Larson and Garlinghouse to donate a portion of that money to Ellen’s Wildlife Fund. They felt like she was the perfect candidate to receive that money because she is always giving back to people and it was time for them to help her give back. So behalf of Ripple they gave her 4 million dollars, which they transferred into Rwandan francs straight from a mobile device with the click of a button.
